Little River Harbour Community Wind Turbine

A certificate of approval was awarded to Scotian Wind under the Community Feed-In-Tariff (ComFIT) program of the Nova Scotia provincial government on February 27, 2012 for the Little River Harbour Community Wind Turbine Project. On June 20th Scotian Wind held a public open house to share project information with the residents of Little River and surrounding area at the Fire Hall in Wedgeport. This meeting was just the beginning of an open dialogue that we will pursue with the public in the Little River area throughout the build process.

This page is dedicated to holding documents and information for access by the general public and local residents to stay up to date on all aspects of project development. In the interest of transparency and public engagement, we will continue to add information to this page as we receive it. Do not hesitate to call or email us with questions regarding this project. See our contact information at the bottom of this page.

Project Documents

  • Certificate of Award
  • Environmental Impact Statement
  • An Environmental Assessment (EA) is a thorough investigation into ecological, archaeological and socio-economic impacts using methodologies defined under the Environment Act. In accordance with this act, wind energy projects 2MW or larger are required to undertake the EA process. In contrast, an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is a preliminary investigation into many of the same issues, based on existing environmental data, and a site survey. In accordance with COMFIT requirements, potential impacts identified in the EIS must be studied further to determine the effect of the proposed project, and respective management/mitigation plans.
  • We will be following up on the recommendations as outlined in the Environmental Impact Statement.
