Environmental Impact Statement
An Environmental Assessment (EA) is a thorough investigation into ecological, archaeological and socio-economic impacts using methodologies defined under the Environment Act. In accordance with this act, wind energy projects 2MW or larger are required to undertake the EA process. In contrast, an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is a preliminary investigation into many of the same issues, based on existing environmental data, and a site survey. Potential impacts identified in the EIS must be studied further to determine the effect of the proposed project, and respective management/mitigation plans.
